Two Tons of Cocaine Seized by Italian Police in Record Drug Bust

Italian police have made an unprecedented drug bust, seizing two tons of cocaine off the coast of the city of Catania. The seizure, valued at around 400 million euros, is the largest of its kind in the country.

The finding occurred during a routine control flight off the eastern coast of Sicily, when the body’s aircraft identified numerous packed white packages floating in the sea linked by a net. The bundles also had a light signaling system to allow their location by eventual recipients.

However, police were able to intervene before any of the cocaine was taken away, deploying several ships to the area. According to the investigators, the drug was likely thrown into the sea by a freighter, intending to be recovered and transported to the mainland.

This record seizure is a major victory for Italian police, who have been working diligently to combat drug trafficking in the country. As of now, there has been no information regarding the origin of the cocaine or the intended recipient of the shipment. However, the investigation is ongoing, and authorities are hopeful that further details will be uncovered soon.
