U.S. Open Set for Historic Return to the Los Angeles Area

The third major of the golf season – the 2023 U.S. Open – has shifted to Los Angeles after a 75-year gap. It comes as a major milestone for the city, USGA (United States Golf Association), and golfers alike.

The Los Angeles Country Club, nestled between the San Gabriel Mountains and the Pacific Coast, has taken on the honor of hosting the tournament. Golfers from across the globe will tee off at the 6,788-meter par 70 course on Thursday, June 15th.

The defending U.S. Open champion, Matt Fitzpatrick, will be back to defend his title and add to his major success, alongside world number one Scottie Scheffler, the winner of the PGA Championship last month, and five-time major champion Brooks Koepka.

Though Tiger Woods, three-time U.S. Open champion, will be absent due to his ankle surgery following the Masters, some familiar faces remain, including Olympic gold medalists Xavier Schauffele and Justin Rose, as well as Spain’s Sergio Garcia who made it through the qualifying round after a brief absence from the tour. Six amateur players, including the NCAA Division I and Latin American Amateur champions, will also tee off this June in California.

This US Open will be an exciting tournament, full of anticipation and surprises. We can only hope that the event will live up to its promise and give us a great show.
