Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Mexico’s president, has recently expressed his concern with the suggestions of certain U.S. legislators to use military action against drug cartels in Mexico.

He denoted these calls as a menace to the Mexican sovereignty and declared that Mexico will not take orders from any other nation.

Lopez Obrador declared the launch of an information campaign, geared towards Mexicans residing in the United States, to inform them of the Republican-led motion and cautioned that if the Republican legislators attempt to use Mexico for their political or electoral purposes, he would advise Mexicans to not vote for their party.

This comes at a time when kidnappings and violence are escalating, further complicating the relationship between the U.S. and Mexico regarding drug trafficking and immigration.
